What's happening internally

I htought you would enjoy info on what is happening internally.   Morning sickness is common during this time.  Piper has not shown any signs of this. (well she did throw up yesterday, but Brian had given her 5 ice cubes at once)   Her milk line is definitely more prominent. The cells in the puppies are now undergoing many changes, and are forming into different specializations.  Some will become the all important placenta, which provides oxygen and nutrients to the fetus, as well as removing waste.  The rest will specialize into the different parts of the body.  The first to form is the nervous system, particularly the spinal cord and the brain.

  1. Because Piper is petite, how do you know when a female should have a C-section - and when do you know? If she had more than 8 puppies, would that be an indicator? What if she had 14?

  2. hehe, I am not sure I would call Piper petite. she is pretty hefty/beefy. Just 25 inches tall. :-) Piper's full sister is smaller than her and had 11 puppies fine so I am not worried. Being a Vet tech I have the added knowledge that I will know if there are complications and take her right to the local ER vet. -Angie
